The Husavik Whale Museum was founded in 1997. The aim of the museum is to convey knowledge and information about whales in an entertaining and interesting way and is one of few museums in the world solely dedicated to whales. 


The museum has 11 whale skeletons on display, the largest one is a 25 meter long female blue whale. This museum is a must-see for anyone interested in these giants of the sea. 

Opening Hours: June–August: 8:30 am until 6:30 pm daily. May & September: 9am - 6pm daily. October: 10 am –until 4 pm daily. November- April: 10am–4pm weekdays 

Entrance Fee: Adults: ISK 1900, Adults with whale watching discount: ISK 1500, children (10-16 years): ISK 500, family price (2 adults, 1-3 children): ISK 4000, students, pensioners, disabled: ISK 1500, groups (8+): ISK 1500 per person
