South coast winter-tour to the Glacierlagoon and diamond beach, with the chance of hunting Aurora borealis
This 10-hour tour will let you explore many of the local's favorite attractions throughout the south coast of Iceland.
We will stop at the two picturesque waterfalls:
Seljalandsfoss - the one you can walk behind
Skogarfoss - the one you can climb up
We will continue along the Nr. 1 highway and see Eyjafjallajokull from the road if weather permits.
The next stop we'll be making is the world-renowned Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach where we'll be able to grab a late lunch and also take a stroll along the shoreline.
We will see Myrdalsjokull from the road where Katla the volcano hides under the icecap.
Further onto Vik in Myrdal and then we have a road trip ahead of us with the glaciers in the east in the distance. We continue to along the coast for about 2,5 hours with beautiful sights out the window and stops for toilet and refreshments starting at Vik.
Then further off to Kirkjubaejarklaustur, then to the national park of Vatnajokull with extraordinary glacier views out the window, The final destination will be the Glacier lagoon in Breidarmerkurjokull, a glacier melting ever so fast.
We will be able to take a walk to see the beautiful out-of-this-world icebergs. We might see seals and a lot of birds in this magical lagoon, because of the mixture of saltwater and freshwater there is a variety of fish in the lagoon. You know, when you have fish you have a variety of animal life as well that eat and thrive off the fish.
We stop at the glacier lagoon for 1,5 hour, giving you time to walk around the area. On the other side of the road is the Diamond-beach, where you can touch the small ancient icebergs that have been floating around in the lagoon and in the end been washed up on the beach.
By now its dark, so it is time for an about 3 hours ride back to the place where you are staying.
